Butterfly Reviews

In BUTTERFLY Pia Zadora proved she could act, delivering a strong performance as the Lolita-like character who finally tracks down her father, Stacy Keach, in Nevada. An apparently incestuous relationship is averted when it turns out he's really not her father after all, though a trial still ensues, presided over by judge Orson Welles. Producer-director-cowriter Matt Cimber, known heretofore mainly as a soft-core filmmaker and a master of wringing out big production values from tiny means, again does a lot with a slim budget of less than $2 million. He does a good job with the somewhat dated story (based on a novel by James M. Cain).
