Breaking Glass Reviews

Hazel O'Connor, briefly famous on the post-punk British "New Wave" pop scene, stars and performs her own songs in this behind-the-scenes look at the record business. London singer Kate (O'Connor) partners professionally and romantically with Danny (Phil Daniels of QUADROPHENIA), who hustles a recording gig. Soon, success and the intervention of producer Woods (Jon Finch) take their toll on their relationship, while Kate and her band (including Jonathan Pryce [BRAZIL; THE PLOUGHMAN'S LUNCH] as a heroin-addicted saxophonist) succumb to the pressures and vicissitudes of fame. The predictable story is energized somewhat by the film's stylish, slick presentation of its pop milieu.
