Black Eyes Reviews

Set is Moscow, this melodrama concerns the efforts of a lowly waiter, Kruger, to improve his life for the benefit of his daughter, Maguire. Kruger works in a fancy restaurant that has private rooms for liaisons between rich men and their lady friends. The waiter keeps his eyes and ears open and has managed to make a number of good investments through overhearing stock-market tips from financiers who frequent the establishment. As far as his daughter knows, he is a successful businessman, not a waiter. In an effort to make his dream come true, Kruger seeks out a rich banker to invest in his idea to purchase the restaurant. The banker and Maguire become attracted to each other, and unknowingly, the man takes the girl to the restaurant where her father works. Kruger enters the private dining room and is shocked to find his daughter, and she to find him as a waiter. All works out in the end, with the banker helping the waiter purchase the restaurant.
