American Empire Reviews

Following the Civil War, three men, Dix, Foster, and Carrillo, the last incongruously playing a French Creole, establish a vast cattle ranch in Texas. Carrillo is caught selling off part of the herd and is sent on his way, but he keeps raiding the cattle and making a fortune in the process. He entices Foster into his schemes, and hero Dix stands alone against them, his only ally being Gifford, his sister and Foster's wife. In a final swoop, Carrillo and Foster try to move all of Dix's cattle, but Foster's son is killed in the stampede. The renegade comes to his senses and helps Dix beat off Carrillo and company. Superior action film with high production values, excellent photography, and a good script where the dialog rings true and without cliche.
