Playwright Brook is sued for breach of promise by Campbell, but during the trial the accused, more out of compassion for the pleading young lady than a sense of guilt, shortcuts the verdict by agreeing to marry her. Following the nuptials, the pair go at it with bitter resentment for each other, but one little truce follows another until love becomes deep-rooted. Production values are on the shabby side, but Brook's suave performance greatly enhances the film.
