The story of Napoleon and Josephine--one of the most celebrated romances in history--is brought to the screen in this mediocre adaptation. Chatterton is Josephine to Blanchar's Napoleon; as the emperor rises to power, their relationship is seen developing, building up to marriage and culminating in divorce. Fails to capture the vigor which most certainly surrounded the bizarre personalities of this couple.
