Watercooler: What We Learned from American Idol

Well, kids, it's over. But before we officially stick a fork in Idol Season 10 and get busy forgetting who won (or who we thought should have won), let's look at some of ...

The dog days of summer are about to get hotter — and a whole lot scarier. Based on the kitschy 1985 Michael J. Fox big-screen comedy about a pubescent, van-surfing furball, MTV's Teen Wolf remake could have been a total mutt. But thanks to some serious tweaking — and a supernaturally attractive cast — the cable net has unleashed a wolf of a different color. "They said they wanted to...

What a surprise. They lost Nationals. Last night, Glee closed out its creatively crippled, nearly intolerable second season with the perfect metaphor for the show itself: No effort, no reward. For months, the once-fabulous musical has stumbled like a mouthwash-swilling transient, wandering far, far away from what it has claimed to be about (music education in schools) to preach about bullying, canonize Kurt, demonize Rachel and pretty much bum us out. Seriously, Sam's poverty and a funeral episode? Fun, really. Thanks...

Oh man. Actually, oh men.So last night, The Bachelorette returned with Brad Womack also-ran Ashley Hebert (apparently pronounced "Ayy-bear") and 25 guys who, true to form, need some help. And we're not even talking about the eliminated dudes who got all teary following the Rose Ceremony — even though those messes should turn in their reproductive organs for acting all "she was the one" after five hours of ...

The doctor is in... demand! Whether he's vamping out in the Twilight flicks, writing screenplays (like February's Hallmark original Accidentally in Love starring wife Jennie Garth) or giving us a Monday-night fix as Dr. Fitch Cooper on Nurse Jackie, Peter Facinelli is one busy man. And it sounds like things are about to get even more hectic for All Saints' resident lab-coated man-child.

They say nothing gold can stay, but Viserys Targaryen's molten demise is gonna stick in our minds for a long time. Last night, the gloriously gory Game of Thrones once again proved that we should completely expect major players to perish without warning (for the unspoiled among us who haven't read the books, that is) by dispensing with the whiny white-blonde Beggar King. And not with just some common sword slice or a been-there-done-that beheading. Nope, the incestuous and exiled heir was, well, gold-plated to death.

As much as we hate to quote Randy Jackson (because most of his stuff is repetitive b.s.), America really does have its work cut out after last night's Idol. In the Musical Mediocrity Olympics this season has deteriorated into, the choice between Scotty, Lauren and Haley got even trickier, since they were all un-awful...

It's time to play favorites, kids.Last night on Glee, Jesse St. James and the worst teacher ever held auditions to see which of the New Directions crooners would take lead solo at Nationals next week (way to be prepared, Schu!). And while the tryouts all but crippled the emotional momentum of the main story — the death of Sue's sister — with ...

Spotted: Viewers laughing our blogs off at last night's Gossip Girl season ender. True story. From Eric's "I'm still gay," to the fawning Constance girls, to Georgina's "I haven't been this bored since I believed in Jesus," to Serena's "I'd ask how you are, but I don't really care," the episode (written by series exec producer Joshua Safran) was packed with zingers as sharp as the costumes were insane. Really, does anyone dress better for a night out than these people?...

Can we just end it now?Last night, Desperate Housewives closed up its seventh season with a two-hour endurance challenge that was as stretched out as it was a stretch. Oooh, "someone is gonna die." Really? What a shock. It's not like that doesn't ...

More people need to be watching Happy Endings. Period.A grower more than shower, Happy originally failed to wow the masses when it debuted amid a schedule already crowded with Friends-like ensembles (Perfect Couples, Mad Love, Traffic Light) that all felt the same. But as the weeks have passed, so too has the feeling that we're watching a cookie-cutter comedy. The dialogue is snappy and hip ("shut your whore mouth" is a keeper), the cast is charming, and, for a certain demographic, the characters are the kind you look forward to spending time with...

Well that was... Huh. Last night, The Voice, which has been awesome, kicked off its Battle Rounds to start paring down the contestants and, well, all we can think of is Rock 'Em, Sock 'Em Singers. By having two members from each of the coaches' teams perform the same song — at the same time — the sing-off bordered on a scream-off at certain points, with enough vocal aerobics and clashing notes to confuse even the most dogged DVR remote. Which one was wailing? Who was flat? And did they really need to pit a Niki against a Vicci?

Used to be that 90210's Adrianna Tate-Duncan was the Beverly Hills resident we most adored. Damaged, drug addled, dramatic Ade. Oh, she was a mess in all the best ways and over the past three seasons, the brunette beauty has suffered it all, having gone from addicted aspiring actress to recovering hasbien (lesbian for a hot minute) to a pop star traumatized by her mentor's sudden car-accident death. It's no wonder her portrayer, Jessica Lowndes, was signed to a series regular gig following her first-season guest stint...

Forget cold feet. Chuck's got a cold bride-to-be! In the May 16 season finale of NBC's spy drama Chuck, the altar-bound Chuck and Sarah (Zachary Levi and Yvonne Strahovski) run into a hitch, courtesy of an evil uninvited guest. "After Sarah is...

"I'm sorry, Clark...I can't marry you."With those heartbreaking words — uttered last Friday night by a teary-eyed Lois Lane — ended the penultimate Smallville episode. Since The CW released photos of the Lane-Kent wedding, it's obvious that the nups actually go down during this week's finale, and from ...

After 10 super seasons, Smallville flies off into the sunset next Friday (May 13, 8/7c, The CW). To make the two-hour event even more epic, fan fave — and Breaking In scene stealer — Michael Rosenbaum is back as Lex Luthor to mess with Clark one last time and to give fans what they've been asking since he left the show three years ago. In this exclusive interview, he runs down what we should expect from Lex... and the show's very last episode. TV Guide Magazine: OK, what took so damn long?Rosenbaum: It just never quite clicked, and I felt like I had accomplished what I needed to. I'm so flattered that the fans wanted me back, but I was busy. I was doing other things, working on me, growing my hair...

Sometimes TV gets it right, and last night, Parks and Recreation got it uber-right. By casting quirky indie-flick queen Parker Posey as Leslie's ex-bestie-turned-government nemesis Lindsay, we got a double dose of the femme-faboo funny from Amy Poehler and her former Spring Breakdown costar and a peek at just how awesome it would be to have Posey on series TV. (Just not in something as misguided as that Jezebel James sitcom she tried a few years back. Nobody needs that.)...

Pack your bags, kid.Last night, the final five took the American Idol stage and it became clear about 10 minutes into the night that Jacob Lusk wasn't so much in it to win it as he was out to hurt our ears.Faced with handling two songs each—as Seacrest vaguely explained, one from ...

Whether she's calling Sonja Morgan a "thug in a cocktail dress" or dressing down Jill Zarin for being a phony, the usually reserved Alex McCord has been killing us with her newfound chutzpah on The Real Housewives of New York City. And she's no less cheeky when it comes to fielding our questions about life as a Housewife. TV Guide Magazine: Gotta say, you are sassy this season!McCord: [Laughs] I've always...

Dear Glee writers,We would like to thank you for finally getting around to using more of your nearly forgotten core cast. It's been a while since some of them uttered more than a line, what with all of the guest stars and Kurt's beatification, but in last night's Fleetwood Mac-themed outing, we got to see what a couple of the extras, er, members of the ensemble, could do with actual storyline....

Awww, man. Does this mean more of her? Last night, How I Met Your Mother once again spent way too much time trying to make Zoey happen, and honestly kids, it was so not fetch. No shade on Jennifer Morrison, a fine actress with apparently limited comedic chops, but the character is just a lump of meh...

Oh, that Lynette Scavo is just the worst. Seriously, of all the Desperate Housewives' harridans, we have never seen such a shrew, and that's including Bree's mercifully forgotten daughter, Danielle! Remember that mess?
