Tom Brokaw hosts a chronicle of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941. "It redefined the American spirit in the modern age," says Brokaw. The report includes underwater footage of the sunken battleship USS Arizona, and follows undersea explorer Robert Ballard as he searches for miniature Japanese submarines that led the assault. Also: commentary by historian Stephen Ambrose; and recollections of survivors. Says one: "I was reborn that day."
