Rowan Atkinson continues his frolic through the history pages of England's kings and queens, this time as the put-upon butler to the half-witted Prince Regent, played by Hugh Laurie. George III's descent into madness propels the Prince into the business of government (a role for which he is ill cut out) but in the true spirit of aristocratic debauchery, he is more than happy to leave the details to Blackadder. Our hero Edmund discovers that he is not always a match for some of the scheming characters who lurk in the corridors of power awaiting their chance to grab as much cash and royal favour as they can. There are industrialists pleading impoverishment, anarchists masquerading as theatre-goers, adolescent Prime Ministers with byelections to rig, daughters of industrialists who lose their heads and hearts to highwaymen, homicidal poets and a small matter of fighting a duel with the Duke of Wellington to boot.
