Tom Holland Teamed With Stephen Colbert to Rescue Dogs Because Superheroes Are Real

There are few things in the world that could possibly be more adorable than the sight of Tom Holland holding puppies, so when Stephen Colbert welcomed the Spider-Man: Far From Home star to The Late ShowMonday evening, he started things off with some super-fur baby action -- and it was only the cutest thing ever.

For the last few years Colbert has hosted a recurring segment called "Rescue Dog Rescue," which features him collaborating with celebrities to promote the adoption of rescue pups through the North Shore Animal League of America by bringing some of the adoptable animals to the show and introducing them to the watching world. Colbert boasts a 100 percent success rate with getting those featured pooches into their furever homes, and who better to help him maintain that record than Spider-Man himself?

"Say no more Stephen, I will rescue these dogs," Holland said of the challenge before the two proceeded to tell "flattering lies" about each of the available animals. Even Holland had trouble keeping his composure, though, once the first little guy was introduced as "Spider-Pup," a fella who has a spidey sense about thunder -- well, sort of.

Holland eventually collected himself long enough to help Colbert introduce the other companions in waiting, giving them all Avengers-themed names and backstories, like "J. Bone-ah Jameson," "Black Widdle," "Peter Barker," "Captain Americuddles," and last, but certainly not least, little "Nick Furry," who's always putting together a group mission to go for a walk.

Previous participants in Colbert's "Rescue Dog Rescue" segments include Bryan Cranston, Jim Parsons, Ellie Kemper, Billy Eichner, Nick Jonas, Emilia Clarke, Aubrey Plaza, Whoopi Goldberg, and Emma Stone, so there's plenty more tail-wagging goodness where this clip came from.
