The L Word to Come Out for a Final Season

Showtime has ordered a sixth — and final — season of The L Word, to start production this summer for an early 2009 run. Versus previous 12- and 13-episode seasons, this final salvo will last just eight weeks, an abbreviated stretch yet sufficient to wrap up the groundbreaking series. "We are enormously proud of the legacy of The L Word," says Showtime president of entertainment Robert Greenblatt. "The title of the show became part of the lexicon, and the breadth and reach of the characters and storylines are a testament to the talent of Ilene Chaiken and her incredible cast."What's your take? Would you prefer the lezcapades to continue? Is the timing just right? Or had the show's novelty already worn off?
