The Big Bang Theory: Is the World Ready for a Baby Sheldon?

"The Brain Bowl Incubation" made us think about what Sheldon would be like as a father

When we found out we were getting a baby Sheldon, we didn't know it was going to be like this!

On Thursday's The Big Bang Theory, "The Brain Bowl Incubation," Sheldon (Jim Parsons) and Amy (Mayim Bialik) did an experiment where they combined samples of their skin cells together into a neural network (whatever that means). The experiment was so successful that Sheldon wants to take their cellular synthesis to the next level and make a baby. Amy is understandably hesitant, since they've only even been living together for a few weeks.

But Sheldon wants to reproduce like yesterday, so when the direct approach doesn't work ("let's lock that door, pull down our underpants a little and make a baby"), he pulls out all the stops to seduce Amy. He drops a pen and shows off his butt while picking it up.

After, Amy is telling Leonard (Johnny Galecki) and Penny (Kaley Cuoco) about Sheldon's big idea, which they're just as flummoxed by as she is. "Why does Sheldon need a baby?" Leonard wonders. "He's already hairless and smells like talcum powder." When they get to their floor, they see that Sheldon has left a trail of rose petals from the stairs to the door of his and Amy's apartment.

"Aw, man!" Amy says.

She opens the door and finds seductive Sheldon sitting at the counter, with goop in his hair and an undone bow-tie around his neck, holding a snifter of brandy. Smooth jazz plays in the background. It's an extremely unsexy person's idea of sexy.

Amy escapes across the hall and complains to Leonard and Penny about her boyfriend -- "it was like getting hit on by Rat Pack Pee-Wee Herman," she says in the best line of the night -- but Sheldon follows her and makes a last-ditch effort to get what he wants by performing the sexiest dance known to man: the flamenco.

It almost works, but Amy storms out of the apartment and says to herself, "that was a close one."

This episode set up the possibility that someday, maybe, Sheldon could become a father. That is a logical progression in Sheldon and Amy's relationship, and there's a lot of humor to be mined from Sheldon dealing with all the changes that parenthood would bring. Maybe Season 11 will bring another Big Bang baby!

The Big Bang Theory airs Thursdays at 8/7c on CBS.
