The Bachelorette: Why Kaitlyn Won't Keep Sex with Nick a Secret from the Guys

Kaitlyn drops a truth bomb: "I don't think it's wrong to have sex"

Everybody knows by now that The Bachelorette's Kailtyn and Nick had sex. But will the rest of the guys find out before the season ends?

While the super-tease promo makes it seem as though she tells someone (Chris Harrison? The guys? A producer?) at some point, the Canadian explains to us why she ultimately chose to tell some of the men. "I felt like I needed to be honest with relationships that meant something to me," she tells us in the video above. "I wouldn't want to go and be proposed to and later go through that and discuss that. I want to be open with those who I care about."

Why it's not a big deal that Kaitlyn had sex on The Bachelorette

We're guessing that Shawn will be among them. Based on his reaction to not getting a date rose, we can only imagine how it'll go down. "I'm trying to chalk [his anger] up to having 29 or 30 Guinness [beers] at the Guinness factory," Kaitlyn says.

"Our connection was so strong right from the get-go. Any time you feel that strongly about someone it is going to be difficult to watch them have other relationships. He's a passionate guy and he definitely was there for me so I understand it's hard -- I felt the same way watching Chris go on other dates!" she continues. "I do believe Shawn and I had something from Day 1 that was so strong, so I get it."

It hasn't been an easy season for Kaitlyn. Earlier in the episode, Ian called her "shallow" and "surface level," among other things. "Ian really shocked me in that he was so vocal that he was there for me and into me," she says. "I was definitely holding back because I wanted to lose it, but I knew the damage he was doing to himself, so I sat back. I told him I've appreciated his deep side ... [yet] he did not appreciate who I was, so that's all I needed to say. Then it was like, 'Good riddance.'"

The Bachelorette's Chris Harrison: As soon as Kaitlyn saw Nick, it was over

Halfway through the season, Kaitlyn admits that, though she knew what she was getting herself into, she's still overwhelmed. "I knew I wasn't going to be able to please everybody, but I didn't know it would be this negative," she says. "I still feel that I'm a woman who's in a relationship and if I am dating a guy, then I don't think it's wrong to have sex. That's who I am. For someone else that might not be how they go about a relationship... but isn't this a show about me finding love for who I am? It's hard to know that who you are is being used against you."

The Bachelorette airs on Mondays at 8/7c on ABC.
