Netflix's Daybreak Trailer Makes the Apocalypse Look Fun AF

The apocalypse looks kinda awesome?

You might get some Electionvibes during the first few seconds of Netflix's newly-released trailer for Daybreak, because seeing Matthew Broderick back in the halls of a high school certainly does drum up memories of his ridiculous feud with Tracy Flick (Reese Witherspoon). But as the rest of the preview shows, this new horror-comedy is hardly a sequel to that 1999 dramedy film -- unless rigging that student body election did lead to a full-on nuclear apocalypse, in which case, maybe it is!

The new streaming series features Broderick as Michael Burr, the principal of Glendale High School, which becomes front-and-center of the end of the world. After a nuclear blast takes place on the night of Homecoming, the traditional clique system becomes even more prominent as jocks, science nerds, and gamers all band together to become their own butt-kicking tribes. The series will center on a more eclectic group, however, as they try to navigate this dangerous new world, and from the looks of this trailer, this is going to be some wild combination of The Warriors, Battle Royale, and The Society.

In addition to Broderick, the cast also features Krysta Rodriguez as the high school's biology teacher, Colin Ford as teen Josh Wheeler, Sophie Simnett as the resident it girl Sam Dean, Austin Crute as the thoughtful samurai Wesley Fists, Alyvia Alyn Lind as child genius Angelica Green, Cody Kearsley as Turbo Bro Jock who likes a good fight, Jeante Godlock as his sidekick Mona Lisa, and Gregory Kasyan as Eli Cardashyan who apparently has no relation to the Kardashians. Now, those are some character names.

Daybreak arrives Thursday, Oct. 24 on Netflix.
