It may have been the worst kept secret in Hollywood, but now it's official -- Modern Family is coming to an end.

New ABC President Karey Burke announced today at the Television Critics Association winter press tour that Modern Family has been renewed for its 11th and final season. "Chris [Lloyd] and Steve [Levitan] have created one of the most seminal and iconic comedies in television history," Burke said. "In its final season, there will be more milestone events that anyone who has been a fan of the series won't want to miss."

Showrunners Steve Levitan and Christopher Lloyd had previously confirmed that they planned to stop the hit comedy after Season 10, though it sounds like ABC managed to eke out one more year from them. "Our plan is to end it at 10," Levitan told The Hollywood Reporterlast year. "If we can leave with most of our audience wanting more, I think that's the right way to do it. Never say never, but I just can't imagine that we'd go past that."

There is currently no word on which cast members will be returning for the final season, but it's probably safe to assume we'll get all the series regulars including Sofia Vergara, Julie Bowen, Ty Burrell, Sarah Hyland, Ariel Winter, Ed O'Neill, Jesse Tyler Ferguson Eric Stonestreet and Aubrey Anderson-Emmons.

Modern Family airs Tuesdays at 9/8c on ABC.
