Matt's Weekend Picks: May 13-15

Smallville(Friday, 8/7c, The CW)
After 10 seasons of learning-curve, rite-of-passage superheroics, how better to graduate Clark Kent from Smallville than a super-sized two-hour series finale. Michael Rosenbaum returns as Lex Luthor (as fans chant, "It's about time"), and there will be appearances as well by old favorites Allison Mack, John Glover, Annette O'Toole and John Schneider as the finale calls back to the series' origins while projecting to the Man of Steel's future as arguably the most legendary hero in entertainment history.
Doctor Who(Saturday, 9/8c, BBC America)
Also largely under wraps is a very special episode of the classic time-traveling space fantasy, penned by renowned fantasist Neil Gaiman. Titled "The Doctor's Wife," it is set on a junkyard planet (harking back to the series' beginning, when the first episode in 1963 was set in a London junkyard) and features British TV star Suranne Jones (Coronation Street) in a role described as "an old acquaintance with a new face." In the episode, a distress signal from an old friend leads the TARDIS to said planet of junk, occupied by a beautiful woman and her bizarre family. Naturally, the Doctor and his companions (Amy and Rory) are in for a wild ride.
Survivor: Redemption Island(Sunday, 8/7c, CBS)
Though overshadowed by time-slot competitor American Idol on Wednesdays, the Redemption Island season of Survivor has been a mostly compelling one, dominated by Boston Rob Mariano on his third go-round. His Ometepe tribe completely squashed the rival Zapatera team, picking them off one by one after the merge until only Zapatera members remained in the game. (Quite a few Zapatera castoffs have been biding their time on Redemption Island.) In the two-hour finale, followed by a cast reunion (expect more bellyaching from Russell Hantz), a record eight remaining players will fight to the end. Will Rob finally win the elusive $1 million prize?
Desperate Housewives(Sunday, 9/8c, ABC)
This hasn't been the happiest season for the long-running soap, and it's certainly been a chore for Susan — exiled from Wisteria Lane and undergoing a kidney transplant among the usual travails. But maybe things will improve now that she's moving back to the neighborhood in the two-hour season finale. Although it really doesn't sound like it, since she's still trying to convince the police that she was framed by Felicia of attempting to poison Paul. And the progressive dinner being thrown to welcome her back leads to (what else) a shocking murder. In other news, Gaby confronts her stalker, while Lynette and Tom try to repair their marriage. Good luck with that.
