Laguna Beach and The Hills star Kristin Cavallari is making her return to TV. The reality show trendsetter will be hosting E!'s new interactive talk show The Fabulist alongside Fashion Star's Orly Shani, giving viewers a weekly glimpse into emerging trends. TV Guide Magazine spoke with Cavallari and Shani about their new hosting gig and the trends they love.

TV Guide Magazine: Tell us about The Fabulist.
Orly Shani: It's a trend forecasting show. So, there's these incredible researchers involved who hunt out the newest trends that are about to pop in everything from fashion to beauty, travel, fitness, food, really everything. We feature them on the show and we have a really sexy, funny, rotating guest panel, and together we discuss and delve into the trends.

TV Guide Magazine: E! is creating an online component for the show where viewers can buy things they see on the show in real time. What else are you doing to make The Fabulist fit into the ideas of "companion TV"?
Shani: There are a lot of trends that are brand new that Kristin and I both are like, "I don't know about that. I feel silly. I think I'll look a little ridiculous." So, there's a fun follow-up that happens the next week, when I grow a pair, and I'm like, "I think I'm going to try that." We try it, and we snap a photo and share it on Instagram and say, "OK, I didn't like it on the show, but I'm trying it this week. What do you guys think?"

TV Guide Magazine: What are some of your favorite trends right now?
Kristin Cavallari: Spring is all about white on white, which I absolutely love — although because I'm seven months pregnant I probably won't be doing white on white this spring. Pastels as well are really popular so I'm excited for both of those.
Shani: We featured jumpsuits in our pilot. Since then, my eye has just been gravitating towards them. I'm bent on finding one for one of the first few episodes.

TV Guide Magazine: How have your experiences in fashion and television helped you prepare for a show like this?
Cavallari: Just being around great stylists and wearing amazing designers and being at photo shoots. Photo shoots are like playing dress up, which is a ton of fun — you get to wear a lot of things that you maybe wouldn't wear in your real life. Being around all of that stuff makes me really excited about fashion and aware of what's going on.
Shani: I've been building Tuc+Wes over the last couple of years as best I can and I think I have a real first-hand appreciation for how hard it is to get something out there. For me, I get really excited when I see new trends, and new designers, and new people popping up because I really have an appreciation for what it takes to break through the noise and actually have people talking about you. It's not easy.

The Fabulist premieres Monday, March 17 at 8:30/7:30c on E!.
