Two days after Kim Kardashian filed for divorce from Kris Humphries, Kardashian's mom-ager Kris Jenner appeared on Today to set the record straight (and, of course, to promote her new book).
"I knew [about the divorce] a few days before," Jenner said. "She had... a really difficult thing to do on Monday. It's just our job to wrap our arms around her and be there for her through thick and thin. That's how our family has always been."

Kris Humphries: I'm devastated that Kim filed for divorce

Jenner also responded to criticisms that the whole marriage was simply a publicity stunt for Keeping Up with the Kardashians. "It certainly wasn't a sham," she said. "We have enough going on on our show. We don't need to make things up. She really felt that she was in love with him... I had no idea there was a problem at the time."In particular, Jenner said reports that Kardashian scored a huge payday for her E! wedding special are "absolutely false." In fact, she told anchor Ann Curry that Kardashian ended up paying for parts of the wedding out of pocket. "They made some money for the pictures that were sold," Jenner said. "But at the end of the day Kim had to pay a great deal of money — the balance that was owed for the wedding — which she was delighted to do because that was her fairytale wedding."

Jenner claimed she does not know how much her daughter and Humphries were paid for their photographs, but she said it was less than $1 million and more than a$500,000. She also asserted that Kardashian's ring, which is said to be worth $2 million, is actually worth less than half of that.According to Jenner, Kardashian, 31, won't return her wedding gifts, but will instead make generous contributions to deserving charities he returns from Australia. And even though the marriage has now blown up, Jenner said she has no regrets about televising the wedding. "This is what we do," she said. "We have people that have invested in or lives from day one, Season 1. I feel so blessed and grateful for the TV show.

"I told Kim, 'You're not the first person to ever get a divorce, and you won't be the last," she said. "She feels like she's let a lot of people down. She's sick about it. It's a terrible situation, but she's here to say 'I made a mistake and I'm sorry.' And try and put it back together."Watch the full interview here:
