Australian Olympic swimmer Ian Thorpe will reportedly reveal he's gay during an emotional interview airing on Australian television Sunday, the SundayTelegraph reports. In a promo for the special, interviewer Sir Michael Parkinson asks Thorpe: "You've always said that you're not gay. Is all of that true?"

The 31-year-old gold medalist has publically denied his sexuality his entire career, which began over a decade ago at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. In his 2012 memoir, This Is Me, he explicitly states that he is straight and that the speculation has been hurtful.

But during the emotional sit-down with Parkinson, Thorpe allegedly confirms he's gay and goes into detail regarding the long battle with depression he's suffered while denying his sexuality.

"I think his sexuality is no one's business but his own. But I think it's one of the best interviews I have ever done in terms of [Thorpe] talking about depression and things like that," Parkinson said.
