Grey's Anatomy Theory: Is Amelia Planning Her Exit?

That Linc conversation was...odd...

Grey's Anatomydidn't kill Betty Britney (Peyton Kennedy) like we thought they were going to do, but Thursday's episode made us only more concerned for Amelia's (Caterina Scorsone) next move. Britney was part of a massive opioid overdose that sent over 50 addicts to the hospital after taking laced pills. Even though Teddy (Kim Raver) was able to save Britney during surgery, she will most likely go home with her parents, leaving Amelia reeling from the loss.

We wouldn't be too concerned if one scene hadn't put us on edge during the episode. When Linc (Chris Cormack) was lamenting the amount of OD patients coming in, Amelia asked him where he goes to escape and get away from it all. She wanted to know where he would disappear to if his life fell apart. He answered Barbados, which seemed to suit Amelia very much.

Was this just an innocuous conversation to distract Amelia from the fact that her foster daughter was potentially going to die from a drug overdose after Amelia did everything she could to keep her clean? Perhaps! However, Amelia is still entrenched in a complicated love triangle and even though Owen (Kevin McKidd) said he chose her, a few things have us wondering if that's a decision that he'll stick to.

Britney's parents have already claimed Leo, Britney's young son that Owen was planning to raise as his own. It also seems unlikely that Britney would stay with Amelia now that her parents have found her and recognize they need to help her deal with her addiction. Slowly but surely, Grey's Anatomy is eroding the things that made Amelia and Owen such a unit. They worked very well as co-parents together, but they don't have a great track record when it comes to being together one-on-one.

If Amelia and Owen's family unit falls apart, won't Amelia as well? In that context, her question to Linc takes on a lot more weight. She could be planning her own exit strategy if her personal life takes another shock. Call us paranoid, but she has been known to choose flight over fight before, and her exit would make pairing Owen with Teddy and their perfect family a lot easier.

Do you think Amelia is looking to bail?
