One of Grey's Anatomy's deadbeat dads is about to be a little less absent. Jeff Perry will return to the ABC hot-doc drama as Meredith's (Ellen Pompeo) father, Entertainment Weeklyreports.
This is sort of a big deal to the show, as we haven't seen Thatcher Grey (ha ha, what a name) since Season 7, when he was admitted into the hospital with a massive kidney stone. He not only brought in a painful, abdominal mineral mass, he also brought his new tattooed 20-something-year-old girlfriend that he met in Alcoholics Anonymous, because this is a prime-time soap.
Thatcher is likely to be a sore subject for Meredith, as he is her biological father but wasn't ever a part of her life. Did he even go to Lexie's funeral? Derek's funeral? In fact, where has this guy been all these years?

Nothing else is know about Thatcher's return, but if his visit is part of Grey's Anatomy's Season 15 of love, maybe he and Meredith will reconnect on good terms?
Perry was last seen on Scandal, another Shonda Rhimes-created drama, as Cyrus Beene.
Grey's Anatomy returns Thursday, Sept. 27 at 8/7c on ABC.
