Not everyone went down in a blaze of glory
Game of Thrones' final season was a straight-up bloodbath.
There was a time, after the Battle of Winterfell, when some fans were unsatisfied that so many of the show's central figures had enough plot armor to survive the Night King's army, but that time has now passed. That fight and the one to follow -- which we like to refer to as the Battle of the Bells because you know -- resulted in a lot of body bags, many belonging to characters who'd been around for the entire series.

Now that the game is through, let's take a look back at all the major players we lost in the series' final season. Some of the show's mainstays went down in an absolute blaze of glory, while others fell with much less fanfare as a result of the final stretch's dizzying pacing problems. In some cases those deaths gave the story some symmetry, while in others they were just totally off the rails and pointless.
