Looks Like CleganeBowl Might Finally Happen on Game of Thrones Season 8

The Sandor sibling showdown you've been waiting for may be ahead

In Game of Thrones' most recent season, fans came this close to seeing Ser Sandor Clegane a.k.a. The Hound (Rory McCann) come to blows with his now-zombified brother Ser Gregor a.k.a. The Mountain (Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson), as the two were finally reunited during the Dragon Pit meeting in the Season 7 finale.

Instead of fighting, however, the Hound simply taunted his brother by looking him in the rotting face and saying, "Remember me? Yeah you do. You're even f---ing uglier than I am now. What did they do to you? It's not how it ends for you, brother. You know who's coming for you. You've always known."

While he may have been right that the Mountain knows who was coming for him, those of us at home have been left to wonder whether Sandor was referring to himself in the third person there or if someone else -- perhaps Arya Stark? -- is destined to bring about his death ... or re-death, as the case may be.

Buried within another batch of buzzy Game of Thrones quotes from Entertainment Weekly's new issue may be the answer to that question. Actor Rory McCann seems to be confirming that the Hound will at least get the chance to come face to face with the Mountain one more time in the new season, as he's shown wielding a sword alongside the caption, "There will be a chance of squaring up to his brother and facing those demons."

In other words, CleganeBowl might really be happening in the final season. Finally.

There are more tasty tidbits to be found within the image load, including the fact that Samwell Tarly (John Bradley) may be the one to deliver the good/bad news of Jon Snow (Kit Harington)'s true family history, so hit up EW for the full load of new character images and details.

Game of Thrones returns to HBO for Season 8 on Sunday, April 14 at 9/8c.
