NBC says it will broadcast the 62nd annual Primetime Emmy Awards, usually held in mid-September, on Sunday, Aug. 29.
The network has bumped up the ceremony by three weeks to avoid scheduling conflicts with Sunday Night Football, which kicks off the first Sunday of September.

"NBC is excited to host television's biggest night," said NBC executive Paul Telegdy. "Scheduling and announcing the telecast for Aug. 29 this early in the awards cycle will give the Television Academy and NBC a head start on creative discussions."
Sunday Night Football has proved an important part of NBC's lineup. The telecast does well in the weekly prime-time ratings. Sunday's New England Patriots vs. Indianapolis Colts game topped the most recent Nielsens, attracting 22.4 million viewers.
NBC previously moved the show to late August in 2006 and nabbed the show's best ratings in the last four years -- 16.2 million viewers. This year's Sept. 20 telecast on CBS garnered 13.3 million viewers.
