With a plot closely resembling Henri-Georges Clouzot's THE WAGES OF FEAR (1955), this flashback-filled film details the story of six risk-takers who drive truckloads of volatile rocket fuel through dangerous terrain, with rockfalls threatening them at almost every turn. Each, in his own episodic vignette, proves to have a reason for making the trip. Most need the $5,000 each has been promised, but only Zimbalist has a deeper reason: he is the developer of the highly explosive fuel which, in a freak mishap, contributed to the deaths of his wife and children. With the exception of Foran, all the adventurers make it to safety.
