A crazed 19th-century doctor (Gottfried John) reanimates a murdered opera star (Amira Casar) in hopes of turning her into a singing automaton. Directed by brothers Timothy and Stephen Quay, who cowrote the script with Alan Passes. The Quays were also responsible for providing the film's animated sequences.
