The Madonna's Secret Reviews

Low-budget programmer directly inspired by Edgar Ulmer's 1944 film BLUEBEARD. This time the story of a portrait painter linked to murder is updated, and the action shifted from Ulmer's Paris to New York City. Lederer plays the mysterious painter who has fled Paris for the Big Apple due to controversy over his work. It seems that the model he used (whose face appears in all his work) turned up drowned in the Seine soon after he painted her. Pretty soon a model he uses in New York turns up dead. After a second one dies as well, the sister of one of the dead girls poses as a model to get the goods on him. Instead, she falls in love with the artist and eventually clears him of the crimes. (In Ulmer's film the artist is indeed the killer.)
