After losing his pilot's license because of an attempted flight through the Arc de Triomphe, Delon and his racing mechanic friend Ventura set off for the Congo. They drag along failed sculptress Shimkus and start searching for a downed plane which is supposed to be full of great riches. They are tracked by a gang of mercenaries who kill Shimkus, whom both men have fallen in love with, and follow them to locate the treasure. The hunted pair plan instead to open a restaurant on a deserted island but soon drift apart. Nothing too adventurous here.
