St. Helens Reviews

On May 18, 1980, after much anticipation, Mt. St. Helen's, an active volcano in Washington State, finally erupted. Capitalizing quickly on the disaster, this cheapie was realized just a year after the event. Carney plays Harry Truman, the real-life man who refused to leave his home despite the imminent disaster. Surrounded by stock characters, Carney's performance makes this film--although the best reason to see ST. HELENS is the fantastic footage of the volcano's eruption. Other than that, the film is highly fictionalized melodrama without much substance.
