Bennett and Aherne play lawyers who, though at each other's throats in the courtroom, carry on an off-duty romance when court's not in session. Sullivan, the racketeer Bennett is defending, turns out to be her former husband. This fact is finally revealed despite problems it may cause for Bennett with lover Aherne, as well as for her son. Old story is told in a unique way. Direction and script are first-rate, and the story is given an odd twist to add a bit of interest.
