Feckless detectives Herbert and Jenkins in pursuit of master criminal The Octopus become trapped in a haunted lighthouse. Before long they come face to face with an actual killer octopus. Based upon the plays "The Gorilla" and "Sh! The Octopus" by Ralph Spence, Ralph Murphy and Donald Gallaher.

Even an octopus doesn't have enough tentacles to choke off this lame attempt at a thriller, in which Herbert reprises his role as an idiotic detective. Aided by able companion Jenkins, Herbert stumbles through the investigation of some strange goings-on at a lighthouse. The film is supposed to evoke scares, but is so poor it only elicits laughter, and applause--when it's finally mercifully over. Based on the play "The Gorilla," with an octopus substituting for the gorilla. A zoo full of animals couldn't make this one scary.
