Red Sky at Morning Reviews

A murky tale about a boy forced to come to terms with his manhood when his father is killed during WW II. Thomas is a teenage boy sent with his mother, Bloom, to live in New Mexico when his father goes to war. He comes to terms with making new friends in an area where whites are the minority, falls in love for the first time with Burns, and adapts to an alienated mother. His final test of manhood comes with the news that his father has died; he must fight Colicos, Bloom's lover, to be the man of the house. Any possibilities from the original story are lost in the slack and uninspired direction of a cast consisting of little more than stereotypes.
