RECRUITS unashamedly steals its premise from POLICE ACADEMY. In a small town, a crooked police captain is determined to grab political control by publicly disgracing the mayor. First, he hires a gang of oddballs and misfits to be the new police recruits. Next, a phony assassination is to be staged when the governor arrives for a personal appearance, thus showing the mayor's incompetence. When the city's main police force succumbs to food poisoning at a beach party and is knocked out of service completely, the recruits band together to save the day. Is there anything original in this? No! The jokes are based chiefly on women's breasts and men's groins, with plenty of the former on significant display. Without mincing words, this is just plain idiotic.
