Irène Bordoni is cast as Vivienne Rolland, a Parisian chorus girl in love with Massachusetts boy Andrew Sabbot (Jason Robards Sr.) Andrew's snobbish mother Cora (Louise Closser Hale) tries to break up the romance. Jack Buchanan likewise makes his talking-picture debut as Guy Pennell, the leading man in Vivienne's revue. No film elements of Paris are known to exist, although the complete soundtrack survives on Vitaphone disks. The sound tape reels for this film survives at UCLA Film and Televisio

Hale is an over-protective mother who leaves Massachusetts for Paris to prevent her son Robards from tying the knot with chorus girl Bordoni. The picture tries to use color sequences (39 minutes worth) to keep the audience awake, but for some reason left out the major selling point--the film was based on a play for which Cole Porter wrote the tunes, but they were omitted from the screen version. The new tunes by Al Bryan and Ed Ward include, "Crystal Girl," "Miss Wonderful," "Paris," "I Wonder What Is Really on His Mind," "I'm a Little Negative," "Somebody Mighty Like You," "My Lover (Master of My Heart)." This film marks both Bordoni's and Buchanan's talkie debut. Bordoni reprised her stage role in this movie.
