A sort of A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET 3 meets PLATOON, NIGHTWARS concerns Trent Matthews (Brian O'Connor) and Jim Lowry (Cameron Smith), Vietnam vets who suffer from nightmares that propel them back into the jungle. Racked with guilt for having left a buddy behind, the duo relive the horror every night, then awake to find that the wounds they suffer in their dreams have actually appeared on their bodies. They turn to vet-turned-psychiatrist Dr. Campbell (Dan Haggerty) for help; not surprisingly, he doesn't believe their stories and sedates them--making them sleep. When some nightmare machine-gun fire kills Trent's wife, however, the shrink finally takes heed.
