Moon Zero Two Reviews

Some interesting ideas don't quite gel in this outer space western, a predecessor to a flock of pictures ranging from mega-successes like STAR WARS (though keenly disguised) to mega-flops like OUTLAND (whose debt to HIGH NOON wasn't nearly repaid). It is the year 2021, and Olson is a samurai spaceman who hires himself out for various missions. He also has the honor of having been the first man on Mars, which adds to his prestige. His services are employed by Mitchell, a lunar tycoon, who wants Olson to knock an asteroid out of orbit and crash it onto the moon's surface where, unknown to Olson, it will be used for Mitchell's get-rich-quick scheme. The crooked fellow intends to sell worthless land on the pretense that it is rich in precious sapphire, stones actually taken from the asteroid. Olson catches on to Mitchell's devious tactics and discovers he is guilty of murdering von Schell's brother. This film is geared mainly to the kids.
