This dopey little sex farce tries to be a sort of update of BOB AND CAROL AND TED AND ALICE, but falls far short of that goal. Workaholic doctors Evelyn and Walter (Shirley MacLaine and James Coburn) barely know each other after years of marriage. Gregg (Stephen Collins), a young man living with TV weathergirl Stephanie (Susan Sarandon), encounters Eveyln in a meeting that could only take place in the movies (and unfortunately does), and the two have an affair. Walter, in turn, takes up with Stephanie, and from there it's a predictably wild sex romp through motels and hot tubs. Sarandon is a delight, giving one of her sweet, zany characterizations while MacLaine and Coburn fight it out to see who can ham it up most.
