Lizzie Reviews

Released the same year as THE THREE FACES OF EVE, this picture covers much the same ground, but not nearly as well. Based on Shirley Jackson's novel The Bird's Nest, it stars Parker as a troubled woman with three personalities: Elizabeth, the dreary museum employee who feels mentally unbalanced; Beth, the pleasant, likable girl; and the title character, Lizzie, a wild woman who goes out nights, gets insanely drunk, and winds up in strangers' beds. Director Haas stars as a kindly neighbor who, with Blondell, an alcoholic aunt, brings Parker to psychiatrist Boone. Through treatment and shock therapy, he is able to rid Parker of the boisterous Lizzie. Haas's finest film, which isn't saying all that much.
