The Bumsteads (Singleton and Lake) enter a songwriting contest hoping to win the prize money to cover checks that each has written to the same charity without the other's knowledge. Hale, Lake's boss, is trying to make a real estate deal and wants his employee to soften up the female dealer. Misunderstandings and screwball situations arise and are resolved in the usual fashion. Columbia restarted the BLONDIE series after a two-year hiatus.
