History Is Made at Night Reviews

In this strange melodrama of spite, revenge, murder, and love, steamship owner Clive has tired of his wife, Arthur. He wants to divorce her but doesn't want to share any of his money, so he comes up with a complicated scheme to make it look as though she is cheating on him with the chauffeur. Boyer innocently thwarts the plot, and things get even more complicated as Clive kills the chauffeur and tries to frame Boyer for the crime, while Boyer and Arthur become attracted to each other. Though the plot twists are a bit much to take at times, the cast is superb and the production nearly flawless.
