Good Morning, Miss Dove Reviews

Jennifer Jones is a prim and proper spinster nearing the end of a long life as the schoolteacher in a small New England town. She is on what might be her deathbed, awaiting news of whether or not an operation can save her life. The picture is one long flashback, showing how she has influenced all the people in the village. One of her students, Stack, is now a brilliant young doctor who can save her life with a new procedure. When she falls ill, the town takes it upon itself to see what can be done for this wonderful woman who has changed all their lives. Connors is a tough guy who could have gone the way of crime but instead chose to be a police officer because of Jones, Paris is a playwright who was gently pushed into his career by his loving teacher, and so on. GOOD MORNING, MISS DOVE is more a character study than a story. Adapted from a best-selling book, the film was not a huge hit, but nevertheless advanced the careers of some of its cast and proved that Jones's acting range was wider than previously thought. A warm, loving picture with a lot of humanity.
