A silly little art school comedy starring Farrell as a Tennessee boy who wins a scholarship to study painting in Paris. Encouraged, he is surprised when he learns that his style of painting has fallen out of favor in France and is considered garbage. He switches to the more bizarre, modern style and soon becomes the rage, winning a big award. Nobody knows, however, that the masterwork is hanging upside down. A lot of singing, dancing, cabaret numbers, and assorted nutty characters give this contrived story a certain untoward charm.
