Stanwyck is the daughter of a gambler who killed himself when he couldn't pay his debts. She becomes a gambler herself and meets and falls in love with gambler McCrea. Stanwyck is married to another man and when a friend of hers is killed, the blame points to her husband. She saves him from being jailed, divorces him and goes off with McCrea. This was the first of several films in which Stanwyck and McCrea would co-star.
