Careless Lady Reviews

Vapid tale starring Bennett as an ugly duckling from the country who comes to New York and suddenly transforms herself into a radiant beauty through modeling high fashions. Now a looker and able to attract men, Bennett hits the city's night spots and meets rich charmer Boles in a speakeasy. The joint is busted, but all the customers get out of jail. Bennett goes to Paris on a whim and calls herself Mrs. Illington for no apparent reason. Boles pursues her and soon all their friends think they have married. Upon their return to the States, Bennett makes things worse by trying to end the confusion when she announces that she and her "husband" have broken up. The families are shocked by the news, and then an even bigger scandal occurs when the couple finally confess that they were never actually married. Loose plot and hazy, contrived motivations kill whatever interest there could have been in this material.
