Burnt Offerings Reviews

This mundane haunted-house chiller was produced and directed by television's Curtis, who made his name doing "Dark Shadows" and "The Night Stalker" before turning to such bloated miniseries as "The Winds of War." Based on a best-selling novel, the plot concerns married couple Reed and Black, who rent a huge Victorian summer home in Northern California from a bizarre brother and sister (Meredith and Heckart). Once the couple moves in with the family, which includes son Montgomery and Reed's elderly aunt, Davis, they realize why the rent was so cheap--the house feeds off the residents. Overlong, talky, predictable, and dull, dull, dull.
