In his home, a stage actor discusses with his fellow actors how he is not at all like the character he portrays. Ironically, like the story in the play in which he performs, his wife leaves and he proceeds to get drunk. In an inebriated dream, he explains to a judge and jury why he murdered his wife, acting the part of everyone in the dream sequence. The following day, his performance is a disaster, but he is comforted when his wife returns.
