Bayou Reviews

Peter Graves plays an architect who is as unsure of himself as Gary Cooper is self-confident in THE FOUNTAINHEAD. Graves travels to New Orleans to attempt to convince a politician to okay plans for a new building. Graves meets Milan, smoldering offspring of Doug Fowley, who plays his role as if he were auditioning for "Hee Haw." Graves falls in love with the Cajun queen and stays on in the area, eventually involving himself in the business of the locals and angering Tim Carey, who has eyes for Milan. A fight ensues and Graves bests Carey. Made on location in Louisiana, the film is nothing more than a pallid imitation of the sort of story Tennessee Williams made his own. Cult films fans will recognize Jonathan Haze--three years before he was to play the greatest role of his life: Seymour in the never-to-be-forgotten LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS.
