Star Shoots to Season 3 on Fox

Lee Daniels' other show will be back in the fall

More music biz wildness is headed your way next season.

Fox has renewed Star for Season 3, the network announced Thursday.

The drama series follows three talented young girl group singers on their winding path to success in the Atlanta music scene. It stars Jude Demorest, Ryan Destiny, Brittany O'Grady, Queen Latifah and Benjamin Bratt. Co-star Amiyah Scott, who plays Queen Latifah's character's daughter, was the first trans series regular on network TV when the show premiered in 2016.

Star was co-created by executive producer Lee Daniels (with Tom Donaghy) and forms a music drama tandem on Wednesday nights with Daniels' other show, Empire, which was previously renewed for a fifth season.

Other dramas renewed by Fox for next season so far include9-1-1, The Gifted, The Orville and The Resident.
