Get ready for some hippy time in the 80s
A whole new side of black-ish's Johnson family -- the Bow (Tracee Ellis Ross) side -- gets explored when mixed-ish premieres this fall.
The spin-off takes place in 1985, when Bow was 12 years old, and begins with Bow's parents and siblings living a blissful life on a commune. Their peace shatters, however, when the elders at her commune are "detained for three to five years" for ATF violations, breaking up their utopia and sending Bow's family to her (rich) paternal grandpa's spare home. Suddenly, Bow and the rest of her family have to adjust to a world where race makes life complicated, and being mixed is definitely not the norm.

TV Guide has your exclusive first look at the official mixed-ish poster. Ross, who executive produces and narrates the series, is at the center with Bow's younger self (Arica Himmel) atop her flower-adorned head. Alongside her are her Mark-Paul Gosselaar and Tika Sumpter, who play Bow's parents, Paul and Alicia; on her left are Ethan William Childress and Mykal-Michelle Harris as her siblings Johan and Santamonica.
Isn't it adorable?
mixed-ish debuts on ABC on Tuesday, Sept. 24 at 9/8c, followed by black-ish's Season 6 premiere.
