Paging Dr. Cuddy Dr. Blaize!

House alum Lisa Edelstein is joining The Good Doctor as a recurring guest star in Season 2, according to Deadline. The casting marks a reunion for Edelstein and The Good Doctor showrunner David Shore. He also created House, on which Edelstein appeared as Dr. Lisa Cuddy for seven years.

Slated to make her debut in the Season 2 premiere, Edelstein's Dr. Blaize is an oncologist taking over Glassman's (Richard Schiff) case. She is returning to St. Bonaventure Hospital after a "brief suspension" at Glassman's request, but is "quite comfortable going toe to toe with Glassman" and "isn't afraid to have a little fun while letting him know she calls the shots," according to her official character description. We don't mind a doctor who doesn't play exactly by the rules, but Blaize needs to be good if she's going to help Glassman survive brain surgery and his upcoming chemotherapy.

Best Performances: Freddie Highmore on The Good Doctor's Understated Emotion

Season 1 of The Good Doctor ended with Glassman revealing to Shaun (Freddie Highmore) that he has a brain tumor everyone thought was terminal. Unable to accept that diagnosis, Shaun found a way to do a biopsy on the tumor and gave Glassman hope of being able to beat the cancer.

Edelstein is the first new face announced for the new season but joins Paige Spara, who will return to the show as Shaun's love interest Lea.

The Good Doctor returns to Mondays this fall on ABC.
